The Peer Program has a unique focus with Citywide Case Management. It gives individuals who have achieved significant recovery to assist others in their recovery journey. Through lived experience, Peer Counselors are able to build a rapport with clients, provide information and share resources, encourage clients to explore personal goals, provide constructive feedback, engage in daily socialization, and/or support case managers with client tasks.
Peer Counselors duties and responsibilities
- Meet with clients regularly for 1:1 support and counseling
- Reporting unusual behavior, conflicts, or recovery deviations to case manager and/or psychiatrist
- Monitor milieu/community space daily
- Assist case managers with wellness-checks at SRO’s
- Assist clients to and from medical/dental appointments
- Coordinate, organize, and plan outings to community events
- Prepare daily lunches, meal prep, shopping, and inventory
- Increase socialization and consort with clients
- Coordinate and organize cultural events
- Facilitate/Co-Facilitate weekly groups
- Provide other resources to aid clients
